NAPTIP intercepts woman who allegedly paid N140,000 for adoption of two children

The Officers of National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) at Makurdi Zonal Command intercepted a woman in Makurdi Benue State enroute Calabar in company of 2 children who she claimed she paid N70,000 each to adopt from an orphanage Jos.
NAPTIP Zonal Commander, Mrs Gloria Bai in a statement, said investigation reveals that the suspect, one Mr. Monday Daman goes to different villages in states in crisis situations, like Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Plateau to deceive the families that he is bringing them to put them in school while he gives them out to other people on demand
Revelations led to the sealing of the illegal Orphanage “The Lord’s Fellowship International”, Gurandok area, Jos owned by the suspect.
The illegal orphanage which operated in a 3 bedroom rented apartment had about 67 adults and children in the facility.
Some ofchildren have been reunited with their families while others were handed over to the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs.
According to NAPTIP, all suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
