As the flood continues to ravage the State, Delta State has called for assistance from the Federal Government, Public-Spirited companies and persons in order to complement its effort towards mitigating the effect of flooding in the State.
The call was made today when the Director General of the State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Uzum Esq. briefed journalists on the activities of the 2022 flood committee in the State.
Uzum observed that the State Government has established 10 functioning Internally Displaced Persons camps as well as distribution camps to share relief materials to victims of the flood.
He noted that DESOPADEC is also intervening through building of camps for displaced persons around Ughelli axis and desilting of drains.

According to him, all the Local Governments in Delta South are currently affected by the flood, six LGA from the Delta North while Five LGAs in Delta Central have been impacted.
Reacting to a question on the welfare of victims in Camps, he said “ His excellency, the State Governor created an Inter-Ministerial committee headed by the Secretary of the State Government. Every monitoring that needs to be done is being done and feedback handed over to the Governor.”
While empathizing with the affected persons he advised people living around flood-prone areas to move the IDP camps in order to ensure their safety.
