Elections: INEC set to conduct mock accreditation with BVAS in Delta

In a bid to assess the effectiveness of the B-Modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and as part of preparation for the upcoming 2023 General Elections in the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to conduct a mock accreditation exercise in Delta State.
Acting Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Bukola Ojeme of INEC in the State made the disclosure in a Statement, today.
The exercise is scheduled to hold February 4, in 12 selected Polling Units, across 3 Senatorial Districts and 6 LGAs, in Delta.
Selected LGAs includes; Okpe, Ughelli North, Ika North East, Oshimili Noth, Isoko North and Warri South.
Parts of the Statement reads; “The Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC), Delta State is scheduled to conduct mock accreditation with the B-Modal Voter Accreditation System ( BVAS) in furtherance of the technical evaluation of the device, as part of preparations for the 2023 General Election.
“Recall that the Commission successfully carried out the first technical evaluation of about 6,000 pieces of BVAS delivered to the Commission in Delta State, to ascertain the viability of both hard and software between January….-January…., 2023.
“The mock accreditation exercise, which will hold in 12 selected Polling Units, across 3 Senatorial Districts and 6 LGAs, is therefore a step further in ascertaining its functionality on the field.
“The exercise will commence at 8:00am and close at 2:00pm and only registered voters, with the Permanent Voter cards ( PVCs) in the respective Polling Units are eligible to participate in the mock accreditation.
“The Commission appeals to Deltans, particularly participating registered voters to abide by instructions of officials deployed for the exercise for a successful outcome.”
