Delta State Governor Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa has urged members of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress to extend same cordial working relationship of his administration to the incoming governor, Rt. Hon Sherrif Oborevwori.

Governor Okowa made this known during the 2023 workers day celebration held at Asaba, with the theme “ workers rights and social economic justice “.

Okowa who was represented by the Secretary to State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah, said that the relationship between his administration and the Labour union has been wonderful.

Calling on the Union not to end the friendly relationship, he assured that incoming government will be fair to workers in the State.

Acknowledging that the Workers were part of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) victory at the State House of Assembly and the Governorship polls, he appreciated them for their cooperation and understanding.

The State chairman of NLC, Comrade Goodluck Ofubruku and the Chairman of TUC , Comrade Martins Bolum, in a joint speech, had earlier said that the Workers are celebrating the 2023 May Day with mixed feeling because it is the last workers day to be celebrated with Governor Okowa.

While appreciating the Governor for his “ unequal performance” in the State , the chairmen congratulated Oborevwori for his victory at the election.

They however appealed that Okowa should handover the present cordial relationship the next Governor for continuation.
