Group Eulogizes Okowa’s Developmental Strides, Sets Agenda for Incoming Government

Members of the Mid-Westerns have made recommendations for incoming government of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in order for him to maintain the Developmental standard of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration in the State.
The suggestions were contained in an address jointly signed by the Group’s Chairman , Hon. Iwemdi Nwaham, Prof. David Ejenobo , Executive Vice Chairman, Hon. Fidelis Chimokwu, Secretary, and Hon. Kenneth Okwuemu, member.
Congratulating the State’s Governor elect, for his victory at the 2023 Governorship polls, they encouraged Oborevwori to stick to the implementation of his MORE AGENDA which was used during the Governorship election campaign in the State.
Stating that his campaign promises to Deltans should serve as a covenant, the Mid-Westerners recommended that the Gov. Elect should extend the retirement age of civil servants in the State to 65 years, once sworn in on May 29.
They also advocated for prioritization of the development of human resources as well as development of rural road infrastructure to open up rural areas in the State.
Highlighting the achievements of Okowa’s government, the group said “He touched the whole gamut of educational sphere of the State, from basic and primary education to tetiary institutions. Teachers welfare was never compromised. Infrastructural development at all secondary and tertiary institutions in the State were pursued with Virgo.
“ The establishment of model Technical Colleges in the senatorial district was unprecedented. He topped it with establishment of three new universities. The achievements of senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in the field of educational in the state is amazing.
“He set out to address road construction. As at date this administration has tarred more than 2000 kilometers of road and constructed 1400 Kilometers of drains channel.
“The erosion and massive flooding which hitherto destroyed properties worth billions of Naira in the past in Asaba was tackled decisively by the Okowa administration with construction of massive underground water tunnels/ storm drains to transport and empty water into the river Niger.”
Other projects mentioned were the Prof. Chike Edozie secretariat built and equipped at cost of over 18billion, Stephen Keshi Stadium, as well as the renovation, rehabilitated, and upgrading of the Asaba International Airport.
Observing that Okowa’s developmental strides were not adequately articulated to the indigenes of the State for them to truly appreciate him for what he has done, he noted that Deltans are grateful for the achievements.
