Nigerian Army Holds First Quarter of 2024 Media Briefing in Delta

In a bid to create a conducive environment and facilitate exchange of information and ideas, the Nigerian Army has organized its first quarter of 2024 media Interaction with journalists in Delta State.
The media chat with the theme: “Imperatives of Military-Media Partnership for the attainment of National Securities”, was held in Asaba, today.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ta Lagbaja, in a keynote address, said that the theme underscores the critical role of collaboration between the media and military in safeguarding national security.
The COAS represented by the GOC. 6 Division/Land Component Commander JTF S/South Operation, Delta State, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, stated that there is need to build a society where the military and media are united in their commitment in safeguarding Nigeria and upholding her values.
Encouraging journalists to uphold the Standard of Professionalism, accuracy, impartiality and patriotism, he said that the media should ensure that their reports contribute positively to national security.
The COAS added that media practitioners should work together with the army to harness the power of communication to promote peace, unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
He however noted that collective security depends on ability to work together effectively and harmoniously.
Gen. Lagbaja also assured that the Nigerian Army is committed will continue to remain focused and committed to delivering on their constitutional mandate.
The media chat had two lectures delivered by Major General Olusegun Adeleke (rtd) titled “Enhancing National Security Through Military-Media Engagement” and “Promoting Military-Media Trust for Enhanced Public Support Towards Addressing Nigeria Security Challenges”, by Prof. Godwin Oboh.
