NLC Urges Private Sector to Commence Payment of New Minimum Wage in Delta

Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) , Delta State Council , has urged the private Sector to commence payment of the new minimum wage in the State.

This was made known in a communique issued at the end of the State Executive Council meeting of NLC presided over by the State Council Chairman, Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, at Asaba.

Affirming that the NLC is ready for negotiations , SEC in-session also constituted a taskforce to ensure full compliance of the new minimum wage in both public and private sectors in the 25 local government areas in the state.

 COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (SEC) MEETING OF THE NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS, DELTA STATE COUNCIL, ON THURSDAY 3RD, OCTOBER 2024 AT THE LABOUR HOUSE, ASABA

“The Nigeria Labour Congress, Delta State Council, held its State Executive Council (SEC) meeting today, Thursday 3rd October 2024 at the Labour House, Asaba.

“The meeting presided over by the Council Chairman, Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, appreciated the Delta State Government for constituting the Negotiation Committee for the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state.

“At the end of the meeting, the SEC in-session arrived at the following resolutions:

“1. SEC in-session agreed that the State and local government should immediately implement the new minimum wage in the state with effect from 29th July 2024 as contained in the enabling circular.

“ii. SEC in-session also called on the private sector to commence the payment of the new minimum wage to their workers in the state with immediate effect.

“iii. SEC in-session equally constituted a taskforce to ensure the full compliance of the new minimum wage in both public and private sectors in the 25 local government areas in the state.

“ iv. SEC in-session affirmed that the Nigeria Labour Congress in the State is ready for negotiations going forward.

“v. The SEC in session urge all workers to be patient and there will be full implementation of the New Minimum Wage in Delta State after negotiation.”
