Man arrested for protesting against the deplorable state of Shell Road at Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, now identified as Mr Uge Elo Kenneth has regained his freedom.

Mr Kenneth was arrested at the weekend, by security operatives with plain clothes, after using his Ticktock handle to call out Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori , former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Local Government Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area over the sorry state of the popular road

Mr Kenneth who is a content creator took a “bath” in the middle of the road where water had gathered because of the poor condition of the road.
Thereafter , it was alleged that he was arrested on the order of Governor Oborevwori, a claim already dismissed by his aides.

Meanwhile the Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has denied Government’s Involvement , saying that Kenneth “was apprehended, questioned and released same day by law enforcement agents on their own accord, not on the order of Governor Oborevwori,”

He made the clarification yesterday, in an interview with a national radio station in Lagos.

He Stated that “Governor Oborevwori, a core democrat and strong advocate for freedom of expression, would never order the arrest of a citizen simply because he complained about the deplorable state of road in his area or constituency, noting that there is a strong connection between the governor and the people.”

Oghenesivbe also stated that “there are several roads in Sapele, currently being rehabilitated or reconstructed to enhance free flow of traffic within Sapele township and environs, while more roads are to be attended to during dry season across the state.”
