Intl Day of Education: EFI Calls for Improved Rural Education in Delta State

The Eye on the Future Initiative (EFI) has urged the Delta State government to prioritize rural education, addressing pressing issues such as out-of-school children, inclusive education for children with disabilities, and teacher deployment in rural areas.
According to Comrade Josephine Omodior, Executive Director of EFI, the rising number of out-of-school children in Delta State poses a significant threat to the state’s long-term development.
She emphasized the need for community-based programs, free education policies, and incentives for low-income families to reintegrate out-of-school children.
EFI’s call to action aligns with the theme of the 2025 International Day of Education: “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation.”
The organization highlighted the importance of incorporating AI in schools, providing training for teachers and students, and ensuring that technology complements human and social dimensions of learning.
Key recommendations by EFI include:
– *Community-Based Programs*: Implement community-based programs to reintegrate out-of-school children.
– *Free Education Policies*: Enact free education policies to support low-income families.
– *Teacher Deployment*: Deploy more teachers in rural schools to address the shortage.
– *Incorporating AI*: Integrate AI in schools, providing training for teachers and students to enhance learning outcome.
