N120 billion: Loans won’t affect incoming govt, Oborevwori says

Delta State Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Rt. Hon. Francis Oborevwori has said that loans obtained by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration will not affect the incoming government.

Speaking during a program organized by the State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) known as The Platform, Oborevwori said that the loan was approved since April 2022.

He explained that Loans was taken ahead of monies due to the state which is to be paid in a space of five years , adding that the Government decided to get the value for the money now through lending from the bank.

Observing that the State House of Assembly only changed the lead bank recently, he stated that the State is not seeking fresh loan.

He added  that the loans are all tied to different projects as well as companies to execute such.

Explaining further, he said that the loan is also meant for a gas company whose investment that will yield profit to Deltans.

He added that the company’s headquarters will be in the State.

He however pledged to serve Deltans irrespective of religion status and tribe saying “my vision is to enthrone sustainable development, lasting peace and orderliness in our multi ethnic state.”

Emphasizing his plans for the people of the State, he said “ I have a special agenda, designed to make a greater Delta. It is what I have envisioned as the M.O.R.E Agenda. This simply means: Meaningful Development; Opportunities for all; Realistic Reforms; and Enhanced Peace and Security.”
