The Head Collective Leadership (HCL) Onu Ika Nigeria, Elder Daniel Usifoh, has frowned at the proliferation of highly inflammable petroleum products in residential areas in Ika Agbor and environ.

Usifoh expressed this concern during the 23rd Ogwa Ika and 19th Ika ka mma annual lecture series with the theme: Ika philosophy. What is it?, held at  Idumu-Esah in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta.

“It appears that we learnt nothing from the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fire incident of 2021. We have observed the multiple sprouting of both PMS and LPG filling stations in residential areas within Ika land.

“This time bomb should be detonated before it happens. If only we can recall the envelope of vapour coverage of the last LPG fire incident, then imagine the devastation in built up areas in the event of a similar flammable explosion.

“We advise that all the appropriate organs involved in processing and granting operating permit for such highly should be transparent,” he stated.

Elder Usifoh urged Ika sons and daughters to come and invest in Ika land.

“Let us come home and contribute to development. Ndi Idumuesah the railway station is yearning for opening up, Ndi Owa Oyibu where are you? Ndi Abavo your end of the railway is calling you.

“Take advantage of your comparative geographical locations. When you start others will follow. Let us massively develop Ika by starting from our homes and communities,” he stated.

While urging Ika people to desist from deforestation, Elder Usifoh said: “Plant a tree for everyone you cut down for any reason.”
